Review summary
Based on recent reviews
Powered by AI
The Kinloch Arms Hotel is conveniently located in the center of Carnoustie, a short walk from the train station and close to the beach. Guests often appreciate the spacious rooms, some of which are family-sized and equipped with four beds. The meals receive positive feedback, with the Cajun chicken and chorizo pasta being a particular highlight; however, some guests have mentioned that the steak pie could have more meat. While most find the rooms well-equipped, a few guests have noted minor issues, such as initial coolness due to open windows upon arrival.

A good stay!

helpful staff good room good shower
i found it pretty decent after traveling back from aberdeen late one night. the girl behind the bar was helpful, even when i dropped a glass (no big deal, thankfully!). the room was good with a good shower, and it only cost £49. i appreciated the quick check-in and the friendly atmosphere.
the windows in the bedroom were open when i arrived, it made the room a little chilly when i went to bed.
Rooms
9/10
the room was fresh and clean, named after a golfer who won the open, and offered tea and coffee facilities. sky tv and an en-suite bathroom were available, including a seat (a nice change!).

dog-friendly stay near family

dog-friendly place easy walk convenient location
I liked that the hotel was very accommodating to dogs, made walks easy. it was also convenient for visiting family near arbroath. the location was good. The beach and town center were close for meals and groceries at the co-op!
the music from the bar was quite loud late into the night, and i could hear it in my room. it went on passed 11pm and made it difficult to fall asleep, though.
Service
9/10
The staff were really supportive and friendly, especially when we arrived and throughout our stay. they were also very polite and helpful with all our requests. I felt very welcome. i found the staff to be particularly attentive.
Dining
8/10
the menu had decent options! i was able to request gluten-free pasta for the macaroni cheese, appreciated. it came with a tasty side salad that included shredded lettuce, chopped peppers, and vinaigrette. my partner enjoyed the steak pie.
Facilities
9/10
The hotel provided ample parking space behind the building, and it felt secure. there was a co-op supermarket about 100 meters away, very convenient. the beach and train station were about 200 meters away. I could easily walk there.
