Historic B&B on 100 acres in Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park

Property & History

Gartmore House Bed & Breakfast occupies a historic building originally built in 1793 and set on 100 acres within Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. The west front of the house was redesigned by David Barclay, a pupil of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, giving the property a distinctive architectural heritage. From the lounge and many rooms, guests can see views stretching 25 miles toward Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument.

Rooms & Amenities

The bedrooms do not have televisions; guests instead use a television lounge in one of the public lounges. Rooms feature period decor and historic character, with some offering views of the surrounding parkland. The property provides free onsite parking and free WiFi, along with a lift, facilities for disabled guests, and a designated smoking area.

Dining & Community

A complimentary breakfast buffet is offered each morning, and evening meals are available with prior arrangement. Meals are served in a communal dining setting with long tables, encouraging conversation among guests. The property operates on a unique charity-based model that encourages community involvement and social interaction.

Activities & Location

Guests have access to 100 acres of grounds for walking and wildlife viewing, and can arrange outdoor activities such as golf, hiking, cycling, and boat trips in the area. Nearby attractions include Loch Katrine (10 miles), Lake of Menteith (6 miles), and Loch Lomond (12 miles), as well as Glengoyne Distillery and Deanston Distillery. The house runs engaging activity weeks, including craft courses such as pottery, watercolour, and stained glass, designed to connect guests with each other and with local history.

Additional Services

The hotel is dog-friendly, allowing pet owners to bring their dogs during their stay. Group stays and family gatherings are accommodated, with a shared lounge, TV area, and board games/puzzles available. The 24-hour front desk can assist with luggage storage and meeting/banquet facilities for events.
