Accommodations

Borodale House offers guests the unique experience of staying within the working distillery. This property includes accommodations above the distilling activities, providing direct access to the distillery. Guests can enjoy exclusive tours and tastings just steps from their room.

Whisky and Gin Tours

The Isle of Raasay Distillery provides immersive whisky and gin tours for visitors. Guests can explore the distillation process and taste a range of spirits crafted directly on the island. The distillery is known for The Draam, a lightly peated single malt, and its handcrafted Scottish gin using ten botanicals.

Unique Cask Maturation

The distillery employs a six-cask recipe, a first in Scotch whisky history, allowing for a unique maturation process. Each spirit, peated and unpeated, is matured separately in American Rye, Chinkapin oak, and Bordeaux casks. This distinctive approach creates a rich flavor profile that reflects the island's character.

On-site Dining

Dining options at Borodale House include a bar that pairs menu offerings with complementing whisky and gin. The Head Chef emphasizes local, sustainable produce in menu development. Guests can enjoy sharing boards and a variety of plates while they sip on signature cocktails.

Membership Benefits

Slàinte Club members receive exclusive access to new releases and a discount on their first online order over £50. Membership provides early notifications of seasonal spirits and a connection to the distillery's activities. Engaging with the community fosters a sense of belonging to the island.

Very nice Island Retreat

distillery tour restaurant dinner
My stay included a complimentary distillery tour. Nuala's expertise made it very informative. I found the restaurant dinner superb with many choices, excellent presentation, and amazing taste (the seafood was very nice!).
The bedroom felt small. Moving around required some maneuvering. The bed size was inadequate for two people, and the duvet barely covered the mattress. I wish more space was available.
Location
9/10
The hotel is near the ferry terminal, perfect for reaching hiking trails. The ferry to the island is short and provides scenic views. This location provides easy access and natural beauty.
Service
10/10
The hotel staff members are friendly and helpful. Craig and Ethan were particularly attentive at the bar. The receptionist greeted guests warmly and offered tips on local walks.
Rooms
9/10
The room included thoughtful cute touches adding a special feel. Breakfast is included, with warm croissants and high-quality ingredients. The accommodation has all the required features for short stays.
