PORTNELLAN, Crianlarich

Portnellan offers 19 self-catering lodges and cottages sleeping from 1 to 16 guests. The estate has traditionally built stone cottages and timber-framed lodges overlooking Loch Iubhair, Loch Dochart, Glen Dochart, and the surrounding mountains. Open-plan living areas lead to large deckings with garden furniture to take in the Highland landscape.

The properties range from 1 to 8 bedrooms with fully fitted kitchens, hotel-grade mattresses, Egyptian cotton bed linen, towels, and soaps. The An Caisteal lodge has a lift to access the upper floor and an accessible en-suite bedroom on the upper floor. The master bedroom includes an en-suite bathroom with a jacuzzi bath and views across Ben More.

The estate has rowing boats, wild salmon and trout fishing on the estate lochs and river, kayaks, and paddle boards for guest use. A games room offers a table tennis, pool table, and table football. A BBQ hutte available to hire seats up to 16 people with a real fire BBQ experience regardless of the weather.

Portnellan is a 90-minute drive from Edinburgh and Glasgow, located within a privately owned family estate 2 km from the village of Crianlarich. Ben More mountain towers above the site, and the estate is in the northern region of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. A small visitor's centre offers local organic meat and local produce, plus an extensive DVD library and board games.

Pets are permitted at Portnellan. The site has a securely gated entrance, accessible parking, and street parking. The path to some lodges is narrow, steep, winding, and bumpy, requiring attention when driving.
