Solid Stay at Historic Hotel

amazing features fine grounds relaxation rooms
The building had amazing features and stood on fine grounds. I used the gym and spa areas. When one area became a little busy, I utilized different relaxation rooms. My room, the Paton suite, had a free standing bath, chaise lounge and private balcony. The room was cleaned well, similar to the other public areas.

Wonderful stay in a cozy suite

The staff were very attentive and helpful. The Alloway Suite was a great size, with lovely views of the front lawn. I found the bathroom very clean. I was pleased the shower had great water pressure and a rainfall-type head, nice and high.

worn wooden areas unhelpful reception
The hotel seemed a bit tired, I must say. The shower was temperamental. The reception staff acted like I was bothering them when I asked for robes. Apparently, one must request them at check-in. At checkout, I stood there forever before anyone even acknowledged my existence. I also found the spa photos online misleading. The sauna area looked like it needed some serious TLC.
