Historic Charm Stay

friendly staff parking advice
The staff was great. I appreciated the excellent advice about parking options near the hotel. The breakfast offered many tasty choices and plentiful food. Our room was super clean and I found it very comfy.
The room was not comfy due to the hardness of the bed. This lack of comfort. Perhaps softer mattresses would improve the experience.
Dining
9/10
The breakfast buffet was a great experience with a good selection. The server was very pleasant during service. I enjoyed items offered including fresh pastries and hot options like scrambled eggs.
Rooms
8/10
Our bright room faced the square. The room included drinks and biscuits. Cleanliness was very evident in the room. Value was good.
Facilities
10/10
Free parking was available right in front of the hotel. This made arrival and departure convenient. The location is very central for exploring the area. Access to nearby attractions was very easy.
Service
10/10
Staff throughout the hotel were helpful and friendly. Reception offered great recommendations. I found the service attentive. Attention to details was excellent.

adequate stay with some issues

dated decor missing toiletries
the location was central. it provided easy access to nearby attractions.
The room decor seemed dated. the bathroom lacked complimentary toiletries, a significant oversight after a long workday when i had none with me. i arrived late, around 9:30 p.m., to find no food available. I had to seek out a local shop for a sandwich.

Good Spot!

friendly staff room location varied selection
Restaurant staff were friendly and efficient! I appreciated the room's location overlooking the square, even though it was warm with sunshine. Breakfast offered a varied selection of dishes, all reasonably priced. I found the staff helpful during breakfast.
I found the room quite dated and not very spacious. The shower had very low water pressure when not set to cold. This made it almost unusable for anything besides a quick rinse!
Facilities
8/10
The hotel provides a retro arcade games room, though some machines were not available. Darts were available from reception, though one dart was broken upon retrieval. There are parking spaces in front of the hotel.
Dining
9/10
The restaurant offers a carvery, with hard-working and friendly staff. I received breakfast even though I arrived ten minutes after it was meant to finish! The breakfast buffet includes a good selection of items.
Location
8/10
The hotel is in the center of town, though rowdy crowds and vehicles may create noise! The position overlooking the square was good. The hotel is a suitable starting point for visiting nearby abbeys.
